The University of St. Francis gave back to the community, Wednesday, February 10th in the Terrace Café by serving dinner for the homeless. Dinner was followed by a special performance. USF students, faculty and staff volunteered to give back to the community by acting as ushers, servers and performers for this very special event.
St. Francis residents and the staff of the Catholic Charities Daybreak Center were invited. The dinner was donated by Sodexo campus services and the performance was put on by University students.
This was the first event of its kind and Sodexo general manager Matt Mueller is hoping to build on its success by expanding this event to other Catholic schools and nationwide to other Sodexo locations.
Catholic Charities Daybreak Center is a non-profit organization that provides emergency housing to individuals and families who have become homeless. Daybreak Shelter operates 24-hours a day, 365 days a year providing supportive services to these individuals and families. Some participants in the program are in need of short-term housing, as a result of a situational crisis. Others need support services as they work to reestablish permanent housing.
Sodexo, Inc. is the leading provider of integrated food and facilities management services in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico, serving 10 million customers in 6,000 locations every day. Their dedication to excellent service, corporate citizenship, and fighting hunger all come from one goal - to make every day a better day.
