With the spring collections hitting both runways and stores now, and spring break just around the corner, it can be a bit difficult to know what is new and in style, and what is just last season's leftovers. So here is a list of the ten most popular trends, as seen on the runway, from this spring's collection.

1. Turquoise

Labeled the top color of 2010 by Pantone, turquoise was a top choice on the Spring 2010 runways (followed by red) and is popping up in store windows this Spring.

2. Short shorts

If ever there was a time to hit the gym, it's this spring. Hemlines have crept up to shorter than short; in fact reaching the negative. Hot pants, boy shorts, and tap pants are all variations on this shorter-than-short style, which in many cases reveal more than just one's legs.

3. Jumpsuits

Jumpsuits were popular on the runways last spring and summer, but they didn't quite make it to the street. This spring, expect to see jumpsuits on an everyday basis. They'll be everywhere!

4. Sporty clothing

Alexander Wang epitomized this look with his Spring 2010 collection: youthful, unimaginably cool, and ultimately sexy. The cool factor is engineered by way of cropped tops, pants low slung to expose the waistband of an under-layer; leather cross-lacing, jersey fabrics, football-style shoulders. Woven into the effortless tomboy look are super-feminine elements like sheer fabrics and high heeled shoes, placing the look firmly in 2010.

5. Sheer

Sheer, often nude fabrics are some of the most popular among designers. Because of the nude shades, the see-through sheer often goes unnoticed. Thus, the cuts, ruffles and other details were much more subtle and elegant. Not sure if sheer is right for you? Remember, sheer should not be exposing anything R rated, instead stick with sheer shoulders and stomachs.

6. Tie-Dye

Tie-dye and watercolor prints were popular on the runways. The styles adorned with these prints are far from bohemian, however. Rather, they make sophisticated cocktail dresses look like wearable works of art.
