Valentine's Day brings lots of baggage for men and woman. I mean think about it, really think about it. Questions are flying around everywhere. How much do you spend on a gift? Are diamonds too much? Is a card not enough? If we just started dating, do I really have to buy her something? It's one of the most confusing holidays of the year.

It can end in tears or smiles, in breakdowns or hookups, in just one meaningless date or it could end up lasting a lifetime. When I asked male and female students what they thought about Valentine's Day most agreed with one another. "If you have a significant other it ain't so bad, it can actually be kind of cute without costing that much money" said one male student.

Another stated "I'm taking my mom to Olive Garden because I'm not too good with the ladies." I asked female students the same questions. One senior answered "no girl wants to be the one with nothing to do on Valentines Day, but they also don't want to be the slutty girl crying her eyes out at the bar… I guess we can't really win."

Quite the contrary ladies, if you find yourself single for this Hallmark holiday, consider it a bonding time with the girls. Go see that chick flick you've been dying to watch or go get a manicure and pedicure at the mall. Gentlemen if you find yourselves flying solo on V-day I suppose you can always pick up the slutty girls… they'll be at the bar.
